Critical care facilities at LPCH include a 24-bed PICU, 20-bed CVICU, and 40-bed Level III NICU. The 36-bed PICU averages 1,600-1,800 medical and surgical admissions annually and provides a full range of critical care services, including high-frequency ventilation, continuous renal replacement therapy, inhaled nitric oxide, and extra-corporeal life support.
The Critical Care Medicine service has been providing state of the art care for patients at Stanford with life-threatening conditions since 1975. We are a comprehensive group of attending physicians from Anesthesiology, Pulmonary Medicine, Emergency Medicine, and Neurology and we personally direct all care given to patients on the service.
