What is the medical scribe program? Housed in the Department of Emergency Medicine, the Medical Scribe Program trains and employs motivated, curious and tech-savvy inpiduals to assist providers by efficiently and accurately documenting patients’ electronic health records (EHR) in real time.What is it like to work as an emergency department scribe? During each shift, the Scribe is paired with a single emergency department physician. Scribes are involved in every step of the process, gaining hands-on clinical experience during every patient encounter.Why hire a medical scribe? Medical scribes strengthen the capacity for emergency medicine care teams to deliver significant results, and fulfill the minute-to-minute needs of ED patients. With specialized training, our scribes solve the right problems, at the right time.Where do scribes work in the ed? Scribes in the ED are assigned to a specific department area, where they’re available to work alongside any providers who need their services. As part of a growing effort to promote physician wellness and expand opportunities for scribes, in 2019 we added ambulatory clinics to the program.
