I bought an X-Rite Display Pro last year. I thought I would just set it up and proceed. But nooooooo. Dell tech support has never heard of monitors as far as I know. I appealed to Bruce Wright on a tip from one of the forums, possibly this one. He immediately sent me the link to the Dell UltraSharp Calibration Solution for Mac, on the Dell site.

Bad news: The technical support from this company borders on the criminal. It took me more than 6 weeks of emails, phone calls and pleading to get X-Rite to finally give me a little piece of information that was not included in the on-screen procedures, nor in their help file.
X-Rite customers have reported to X-Rite Technical Support that the use of a powered USB 2.0 hub has been the most successful resolution to this connectivity issue. This seems to be the simplest and least invasive way to resolve this issue.

Posed my question on the phone to X-Rite's tech support, they stated as long as the ColorChecker Passport packaging is un-opened, there will not be an issue with shelf-life. Also asked the tech whether or not, based on the presumptions that Amazon's inventory may be old, there might be any concern about dye revisions; he stated no dye revisions
