The Institute was established in 1984 and has evolved under various auspices, adopting its current name and structure as the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute (UWPHI) in May of 2005. We serve our mission in pursuit of the Wisconsin Idea – where boundaries of the University extend to the boundaries of the state, and beyond.
CDE is home to over 80 faculty affiliates who represent more than 20 departments and schools from across campus, including sociology, public affairs, economics, and population health sciences. By providing a bridge between a large number of academic disciplines, CDE serves as a hub for population research at UW–Madison.
